Character: Graywolf

Series: Monster Rancher ( Anime )

Version: Pre-death Graywolf. He’s being carried over into Paixao right at the moment of his death, after his battle with Tiger of the Wind.

Age: Unknown, but most likely early 20’s, adult and in his prime.

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Asexual and completely uninterested in any sort of relationship. The only person he ever really cared about was his brother, and he has enough on his mind to deal with without adding a mate to that list.

Appearance: Graywolf looks like a broad chested canine, similar to a great dane or a large wolf of nearly human size. He has a long narrow maw that is filled almost completely with irregular almost crocodilian white teeth. Strangely, his eyes are large and slanted, but like most dogs, startlingly human. The irises are a light shade of blue, and much unlike any normal dog, the pupils appear slitted and distinctly feline. It is hard to tell where his ears are exactly, or if he even had them to begin with, as most of his head, neck, and chest are dominated by a large bristling mane. The only things that even resemble ears on his person are two forward curving silver horns that jut menacingly out of the mass of fur just above his eyes. Small amounts of bright blue static crackle around them every now and then, casting a bluish sheen on his fur. The majority of his fur is a dull gray, but it darkens to silver starting at his mane, traveling down his back to his bushy tail. His legs are rather slim and muscular, and give the impression that, as large as he is, he is built for speed rather than sheer strength. Each paw seems to have only three toes on it, each tipped with long wicked looking silver claws all of equal length. On the bottom of each paw are four black paw pads, one four each toe, and a larger one to cushion the paw itself. The darker parts of his fur, as well as his horns, nose, and claws all have a strange metallic sheen to them, and can even reflect small amounts of light. The last notable thing about him are two nasty looking scars, one almost directly on his throat, the other off to the right on his shoulder, almost as if he had been shot or stabbed The fur is missing in these two places, leaving pale gray skin visible. Due to the wound on his throat, his voice is somewhat strained and rasping.

Personality: Graywolf is loyal to only a few people, those who show him kindness. He is very eager to please those he looks up to and idolizes, and as a result he will often try and act tough to impress them. However his bark is worse than his bite, and if outmatched or called on his bluff he is more likely to back down and let them have their way, especially if no one stronger is there with him. He is ashamed of his own cowardice and is a sore lose, if beaten or upstaged he will most likely sit around and mope, or rely solely on the help of others to try and fix his problem. Despite his loyalty, due to previous events in his life, he sometimes confuses his own idolization of people with jealously, and gratitude for their help with personal grudges. These feelings of inadequacy are kept locked inside of him, and he will never admit them or act on them in fear of repeating past events. He is somewhat awkward and skittish around humans and human like creatures, but he makes the effort to get used to them and give them a chance when it comes to friendship. As a way of living the life he never had, and making up for the wrongs he committed in the past, he often makes the conscious effort to do good and offer people a kindness when he can. Though he’s new at trying to be a nice guy, and when exasperated he can be a selfish and irritable. Around strangers he’s usually quiet unless he needs to speak, but around those he is familiar with he is amiable enough. He is just a little bit jumpy, and doesn’t seem to like the dark much at all. He also doesn’t like being alone, and will seek out the company of those he calls friends. Because of this, he has a bit of a tendency to latch onto those who are kind to him, and generally those with stronger dispositions and presence in battle than himself.

Abilities/Weaponry: Graywolf only has two real special abilities for use in battle. He is able to build up static electricity in his mane, and discharge it through his horns in a single powerful bolt. Upon taking a deep breath, he can also howl or roar, producing a very strong icy wind capable of knocking people off their feet. Other than that, he doesn’t have much battle prowess.

Weaknesses: Graywolf can be very easily manipulated by people he trusts, especially if they are telling him what he wants to hear. He still has faint whispers and shadows of Moo’s poison in his mind that sometimes make him confuse how much he idolizes people with jealousy, and may rarely make him misconstrue their actions as signs that they don’t care for him or secretly have it out for him. He also holds grudges against people who are cruel to him, and may go out of his way to get at least some form of petty revenge.

History: ( Here we go. >.o I’m going to trust that people already have some context of the show. ) A very long time ago, Graywolf had an older brother named Tiger of the Wind. Graywolf was smaller and weaker, but his brother cared for him deeply all the same and protected him. They traveled and did everything together, having all sorts of adventures. Whenever Graywolf stumbled, Tiger was there to help him up and teach him to be stronger. They both loved each other deeply, and would have done anything to help the other. When they grew up, they formed a pack with all other sorts of Tiger-creatures and worked together to survive on their own in the wild. Then one day a creature called Moo came with a group of evil monsters, and attacked them. They fought bravely against them but in the end, every one of them was killed with the exception of Graywolf, whom Moo took with him, and Tiger, whom they left for dead. Moo filled Graywolf’s head with lies about his brother, poisoning him with the memory that Tiger, who was always so much better than he had been, had never cared for him, and abandoned him to fight and die alone. He believed this to be true, and joined forces with Moo, agreeing to become one of his generals, called the Big Bad Four, in exchange for the chance to exact his revenge on Tiger. He recruited a pack of evil Tiger-creatures, among other monsters, and committed atrocities against both human and monster kind, all under direct command of Moo. Eventually, a group of humans and monsters, called the Rebels, came to stop him, and among them was his brother, Tiger of the Wind. Graywolf saw this as a chance to get the revenge he had been waiting for, and requested a one-on-one duel with his brother. However, before the duel began, he confronted his brother, accusing him of abandoning him, and offering him his life as long as he agreed to serve under him and finally be the one who was inferior. Tiger refused, and in a rage Graywolf ordered the rest of his pack to attack and kill him, knowing inside he couldn’t do it himself. The rest of the Rebels intervened and distracted them, while the two brothers finally got the chance to fight to the death. Tiger, already somewhat weakened, was beaten back by his younger brother. Graywolf delighted in the fact that he was winning, and took his time on the finishing blow, taunting and accusing him viciously. Tiger, on the other hand, took this time to get ready, and launched one final unexpected assault on his younger brother. Tiger’s horns pierced Graywolf’s throat and chest, and the pain was enough to shock him out of the poison that had clouded his mind. As he lay dying, he expressed his regret to Tiger that this had to happen, that he always knew that he had cared for him, and how he wished they could be puppies again so they could get a second chance to make things work. As far as Graywolf knew, he died then and there, but upon waking he found himself in a very strange afterlife, in a world called Paixao, just outside a very large domed city…
